Awful and unprofessional service. We were kicked out because we had a child with no reason given. The situation was handled so unprofessionally.
Love it , part of the same building as Village People and Ichi Ni (Fitzroy) , come up and enjoy the sun and view as well as the undercover bar area all drinks can be taken downstairs as well , try it before and after dinner.
I would highly recommend not ever holding an event here. Staff make promises on the phone and then don’t deliver after you have paid a deposit. We first attempted to organize a sit down dinner in Village People. We were told on Friday we have a confirmed booking and to secure it I would have to call and pay a deposit on Monday. When I called to pay on the Monday I was told my booking was canceled?? I then decided to organize the event at Upside Rooftop Bar. At this point I was told I could order a mix of Canaps from the Ichi Ni Nana menu and the Village People menu. However when I sent my preferences (after paying a deposit) I was told this option was never offered. I again obliged and planned the event with one menu choice. Our event started at 6pm and Canaps were to be served between 6-8pm. We also had a 1400 tab at the bar. At 8pm the staff were saying we had to forfeit our tab, claiming this was part of the contract (they actually came out holding our contract). Again I was told when I organised the event the tab would continue past 8pm until it was finished (like every bar does??). I was also told I had used 1000 (at 8pm), which also makes no sense as we had 20 guests and given the average drink is around 10 bucks (from the options we choose) I can’t imagine how we drunk 100 drinks between 20 of us when most of our guests didn’t even arrive until 7pm.. Again highly recommend avoid this venue. I have held events at many locations and never found a venue to be so disorganized, manipulative and money hungry..
Great place for a predinner drink before walking across to somewhere on smith st. Cool bar. Good drinks. The sign outside is placed above a kitchen door, funny, but easy to get in after meeting the chef.
I hosted an event at Upside recently and it was incredible! The venue is amazing, the food was amazing, the staff, drinks and everything else was also amazing! 10 out of 10 🙂
Came here for a few drinks, and asked the bartender to make me a surprise cocktail (This is my signature move when flirting with attractive bartenders).
On this occasion, I got delicious slightly pink concoction of Umeshu / Yuzushu / Rose wine / Muddled strawberry, blueberry and lychee / Pineapple juice. It was sweet and refreshing. YUM! And most importantly, it was aptly name after Yours Truly (Coz I’m so sweet…and refreshing?)!
Lovely friendly service and a nice place. Gets a bit loud later on when the DJ starts spinning the tunes.
